Urgent Needs

OMF Taiwan has places for new workers in most of our ministries. We can use children’s workers, youth workers, student workers, evangelists, church planters, Bible teachers; as well as support staff teaching MKs, helping with finance and administration, and developing literature, videos and web resources. A brochure outlining these needs can be downloaded here.

In a sense all of these positions are urgent since people are continually perishing without the gospel. However, apart from these ongoing needs, we have the following urgent needs. Without people to quickly fill these positions, strategic ministry opportunities will be missed and people will be lost.

Please pray that God would send us the right people to fill these places.

Church Planting Teams - rural and urban

There is a great need to bold, creative people to start non-traditional churches amongst working class communities.

In the cities there are many working class communities with no effective gospel witness. " Third place " churches using restaurants, offices, communities centers, etc are needed for these people.

In central and southern Taiwan there are dozens of villages with no Christian presence. As the Lord provides more workers we plan to send teams into these areas. We particularly need people with a skill or trade to provide a platform for service to these rural communities.

Youth Work

God has opened up many opportunities to reach out to unchurched youth in schools and through community activity centers. There is a great need for more creative, energetic young people who can reach out to these youth. They will not come to traditional church youth groups. But they can be reached through activities they enjoy: sports, music, dance, games and crafts. Both long and short-term workers can make a significant contribution to this ministry.

Retreat Center Managers

There is an urgent need for a couple who can manage Oasis, a retreat & conference center located near beaches at the southern tip of Taiwan. The center is used for vacations by many OMF missionaries and others serving in Taiwan and is an important aspect of member care. The current managers are planning to leave in mid-2012. The managers need to be able to communicate in Mandarin or study language before starting in the job.

Medical Advisor

Each OMF field has a person who acts as medical advisor for the missionaries in that field - providing advice, doing medicals, liaising with the local medical system. The current medical advisor in Taiwan will retire in a few years and so there is a need to find a replacement in the near future.

Contact us for more information about these opportunities for service.
