Gambling

Long, exhausting working hours, low wages, a sense of inferiority and powerlessness tempt many among the Taiwanese working class to put their hope in gambling as a possible escape from their financial worries. Gambling addiction is common, such that all the addict can think of is possible lucky numbers, going to gambling venues, and connecting with the spiritual world to get "a sense" of the day's lucky numbers.

Lord Jesus, You came to "proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, and to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor" (Luke 4:18-19). I pray that You would set the Taiwanese working class people free from slavery to gambling addiction and from the oppression of money anxieties.
