Work Injuries
24/07/2009 12:00 am
Taiwanese working class men often receive serious injuries at their place of work when employers fail to provide adequate safety equipment. Faced with the real risk of injury and little compensation, many turn to superstitious practices to try to avoid bad luck.
We pray that the Taiwanese will come to know the true God who is concerned for the wellbeing of the labourer and gives real peace to those who seek Him. Deuteronomy 24:14 -
Unreached Villages
07/07/2009 12:00 am
It has been noted recently that there has been growth in church attendance in some of Taiwan's larger cities. Yet in many areas millions of Taiwanese working class have little or no chance to hear the gospel.
Lord, we pray that You would raise up people to preach the gospel where Christ is not known, especially in the rural areas of Taiwan, and provide opportunities for many to hear the Good News. (Rom 15:20)

Exam pressures
28/06/2009 12:00 am
Senior high and vocational school students are all preparing for the upcoming college entrance exams. For a lot of the working class students, it will mean facing the fact that they can't get in to one of the government universities and must either go to expensive private universities or quit their education all together and find a job. For a lot of the students and their parents, it will be a shattered dream.
Father, I pray that the working class youth might look to You and Your strength; and seek Your face always. May they not seek value in what the world has to offer, but rather rejoice in Your everlasting love. (I Chronicles 16:11; I John 2:15-17) -
Dragon Boat Festival
29/05/2009 12:00 am
May 28th is the Dragon Boat Festival. It is one of the biggest holidays in Taiwan, kicking of the summer season. During this time, there is a lot of temple worship and other activities in order to bring good luck to businesses and schools.
Father, You are the true and living God, the Eternal King. We pray that the Taiwanese working class may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent. May they come to acknowledge that every good thing comes from You. -
Working class men
14/05/2009 5:54 am
Taiwanese working class men often don't feel comfortable in church because it is so different from what they are used to. Christians need to go where these men are in order to give them an opportunity to hear the Gospel.
Lord, we pray Your workers would know the power of the Holy Spirit so that they may be Your witnesses to the working class men of Taiwan, wherever You may take them. (Acts 1:8) -
Awareness of Sin
28/04/2009 5:54 am
The Taiwanese working class view of sin varies greatly from the Biblical perspective, and many do not see the need to be forgiven. They view sin as crime only. This difference in worldview often prevents people from understanding the awesomeness of God's grace.
Father, we thank You that Your Holy Spirit has come and is convicting the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment. We pray that the working class people of Taiwan can see that You are rich in mercy because of Your great love with which You love them. (John 16:8; Ephesians 2:4) -
High School Exams
24/04/2009 5:54 am
These few months high school seniors will take entrance exams for further education. Depending on their scores, they may enter technical schools or universities. It's a very tense and emotional time in these students' lives as there are not many spaces available in the better schools. This means that the majority of working class youth do not have the opportunity to attend a real university, but rather attend a school to learn a trade. There is quite some social stigma attached to failure to enter university.
Lord, we pray for these high school students that in Jesus they may find peace. May they ask for help in Your name and receive from You and have abundant joy. (John 16:33; 23-24)
