Chiayi
, with a population of 260,000, is a secondary city heavily influenced by traditional folk religion. Chiayi County as very few Christians—in fact, the lowest percentage of Christians in the whole island. For this reason we have decided to focus our resources in reaching out to this area.
OMF has already established a
church planting team
that has been making contacts across the community and has begun one house church amongst working-class people. They have also recently started a youth center which attracts large numbers of unchurched young people each week. You can read more about this in the article on

Wayne & Angela Chen
Wayne and Angela are originally from China/HK but now call Australia home. They came to Taiwan in 2001 with a vision to reach working-class people. They particularly have a burden for food stall and market workers.
They are also reaching out to foreign brides who have married Taiwanese men in Chiayi. They also lead the first house church which was started in 2006.

Seann & Amy Gibson
Seann and Amy are the Chiayi team leaders. They are members of World Team. They are seeking creative ways to plant a working-class church in Chiayi. For example, Seann sings karaoke and visits local hangouts in order to establish relationships with working-class men. Seann and Amy are using Chronological Bible Storying as a method for working-class evangelism and discipleship. Visit the Gibsons' personal website at

Birgit Glaw
Birgit is from Germany. She is doing youth work and is responsible for the youth center recently opened in downtown Chiayi.
