OMF Taiwan has places for new workers in most of our ministries. We can use children’s workers, youth workers, student workers, evangelists, church planters, Bible teachers; as well as support staff teaching MKs, helping with finance and administration, and developing literature, videos and web resources. In a sense all of these positions are urgent since people are continually perishing without the gospel. However, apart from these ongoing needs, we have the following urgent needs. Without people to quickly fill these positions, strategic ministry opportunities will be missed and people will be lost.

Youth Work

God has opened up many opportunities to reach out to unchurched youth in schools and through community activity centers. There is a great need for more creative, energetic young people who can reach out to these youth. They will not come to traditional church youth groups. But they can be reached through activities they enjoy: sports, music, dance, games and crafts. Both long and short-term workers can make a significant contribution to this ministry.

Family Ministry in Wanhua

We have made significant relationships through children’s ministry Wanhua, a low-income area of Taipei. However, without further workers (preferably a family), we are unable to minister to these poor and dysfunctional families and introduce them to Jesus.

Prostitute Outreach

God has opened the door for us to start reaching out to prostitutes in Taipei. At the moment this is done by one OMF missionary with a handful of Taiwanese volunteers. If the ministry is to develop and provide resources to help these ladies break free from their current lifestyle, we need one or more extra female workers to help build up this work.

Candidate Coordinator/Short-term Coordinator

An increasing number of people are interested in coming to Taiwan. Our leadership is currently stretched in dealing with inquiries, short-term teams and other visitors to the field. There is a great need for at least one person to help in this key personnel position. This could be filled by either a long-term missionary, or by a person willing to devote one to two years to helping serve our team and releasing our missionaries for ministry.

Children’s ministry

OMF provides spiritual input to about 80 children living in Bethany children’s home in Taipei. As opportunities arise to continue to minister to the alumni of Bethany, there is the need for another missionary to contribute to this work, living with the children, teaching, caring and helping them to come to a knowledge of Jesus.

Rural Church Planting

OMF currently has two church planting teams reaching working class people. There are still dozens of towns with no significant Christian witness in central and southern Taiwan. As soon as the Lord sends us more workers we plan to start new teams reaching out into these areas.
