The Early Church had many of their Christian communities meeting in different homes. And from there, they grew into an explosive force during the first few centuries. Can this take place in urbanised Tokyo and the surrounding cities?

In late 2004, led by Louis and Chris Lau, some OMF missionaries started the experiment of doing house churches. And in June 2009, the Kanto House Churches Network started work in the Greater Tokyo area. Each house church varies in size and they meet in different places like homes, karaokes, music rental spaces, clinic apartments and restaurants.

Most of these house churches are led by Japanese Christians who are being trained to lead their small flocks. This network consists of over 20 house churches.

Come and have a look at this new paradigm in church planting which hopefully can bring the gospel, or the church literally to the doorsteps of many Japanese.

Please Note that a main part of OMF’s office building is currently under construction, thus there is no parking space on compound for the duration of year 2009. Visitors with vehicles may park at the Botanic Gardens basement car park that is across the road from OMF (charged parking is until 10.30pm, car park closes at 12mn daily).
