OMF The Chapel of Adoration
The Chapel of Adoration is located in Ichikawa city in the north west of Chiba prefecture. Ichikawa has a population of over 147,000. Ichikawa is 20 minutes by train from central Tokyo and 1 hour from Narita airport. The church is located in the central part of Ichikawa, 10 minutes walk from JR Ichikawa station. It is easily accessible by train on the Sobu, Chuo and Keisei lines.The church serves not only the local area, but also many who live along these train lines.
The Chapel of Adoration was started 30 years ago when Mrs Kazue and Miss Asae Ukiya erected a church building on their land. For the first 13 years, the church was without a pastor. The church came under OMF's religious registration in 1992. From that time until March this year, OMF missionaries have led the church. Graham and Alison Orr were designated to the church at the end of 1997.
On 1st April 2009, the leadership of the church was handed over to Pastor Sozo Ikeda who had been working together with the Orrs, first as Assistant Pastor, then as Pastor, for the previous 5 years. Average worship attendance is 130. The church is a member of the Japanese Evangelical Church Association
