Kanto House Churches Network

The Early Church had many of their Christian communities meeting in the homes of different ones. And from there, they grew into an explosive force during the first few centuries. Can this take place in urbanized Tokyo and the surrounding cities? In late 2004, some members of OMF started with the experiment of starting house churches. And in June 2006, the Kanto House Churches Network started work in the Greater Tokyo area, known as the Kanto region.

This network works in cities like Matsudo, Tokorozawa, Saitama, Kodaira and in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro. Missionaries are looking constantly for the man of peace that will be able to form the backbone of the house church. Each house church varies in size and they meet in different places like homes, karaokes, music rental space, clinic apartments and restaurants. Most of these house churches are led by Japanese Christians who are being trained to lead their small flock.

We welcome new missionaries, associates, short-term workers and teams to join us in this exciting work of starting house churches. This involves street evangelism, university outreaches, open air meetings with music and drama and personal evangelism. We have seen various talented people, especially in music and the arts to be good catalysts in reaching the youths and young adults. We also target different people groups such as street musicians, “salary-man” and “office ladies”, foreigners, families and the elderly too.

Come and have a look and if God were to lead you to serve Him, here is one place where the action is for you to play a part in reaching the Japanese.
