OMF-Japan welcomes mature Christians who are able to serve from one year to three years as part of our OMF-Associate program.

We have missionary teams in various locations in Tokyo, Sendai, Aomori and Hokkaido. We seek to place Associates in these locations according to their gifts, abilities, experience and preferences.

OMF missionaries in Japan have many more opportunities for outreach to Japanese than they could ever have the time or energy for. An OMF-Associate can serve to take advantage of some of these opportunities, augmenting and enhancing the outreach ministry of the church.

OMF is committed to the adequate training of OMF-Associates. As part of your program, we recommend formal Japanese language instruction at OMF's Japanese Language Center in Sapporo. Orientation to the cultural and religious nature of Japan is also included.

Most OMF-Associates serve by teaching conversational English as a means of providing a service to the community and making friends for Christ at the same time!

Other opportunities include:

Teaching at an international or missions school; music/drama ministry; children's outreach; student outreach; ministry assistant (helping the full-time missionary in various aspects of church work); and others depending on your unique gifts and experiences.
