Hokkaido Disaster Relief Emergency Fund

A Hokkaido Disaster Relief Fund is needed to enable a speedy Christian and Church-based response to a disaster in Hokkaido.

To enable OMF workers and Japanese Christians in Hokkaido to respond to natural disasters – one part of the Church’s holistic mission. Because of Hokkaido’s isolation, OMF Hokkaido sees the need to enable Hokkaido Christians to be prepared for disaster relief. The Hokkaido Disaster Relief Fund would allow Christian volunteers and Churches to quickly respond to a disaster in Hokkaido. Usually money for disaster relief comes in too late to be of use. This fund would allow a speedy response. The expectation is that if this fund were depleted following a disaster, that it would be replenished by specific donations relating to that specific disaster.

The proposal is to establish the fund as soon as possible to be ready for the next major disaster in Hokkaido. This fund will be used for travel of a team to the area, the purchase of necessary tools to provide assistance and possibly food or medical aid.
