Student Evangelist

Why are Student Evangelists needed?

Around 80% of Japan's high school students move on to further studies. Yet this vast student population is largely unreached by the Christian gospel. So many of these students are desperately searching for the meaning and purpose of life and yet so many of the college and university campuses still have no active Christian witness. The tiny minority of Christians need encouragement and training at this vital stage in their own Christian lives and also encouragement and help as they reach out in witness to their fellow students.

What does Student Evangelism involve?

· first and foremost spending time with the students! - listening to them, witnessing to them, encouraging, challenging and training them.

· involvement in spring, summer and winter camps for students; these are very special opportunities both for discipling the Christian students and also for evangelistic outreach.

· initiating other evangelistic meetings and also encouraging and training the Christian students in their own witness and outreach.

What kind of workers are needed?

· those who have a burden for these needy young people and are willing to invest their time in them.

· previous experience in work with students is desirable but not essential.
