Will you join our team?
If God called you to Japan with OMF what could you expect to do?
First you’d spend two years at OMF’s modern new Language Center in Sapporo in the northmost island of Hokkaido. Every day you would study a challenging but not impossible language with a Japanese teacher. During that time you would meet with various mission leaders to determine the most suitable place to work, taking into account your training and gifts.
Are there really opportunities for people with all types of skills?
Field Nurse, Medical Advisor, Director for Administration and Finance (computer literate, with accounting skills), Urban Church Planters, Rural Church Planters, Evangelism through English Teaching, Nurses Ministry (Nurses Christian Fellowship), Student Ministry (Campus Outreach), Teaching at Christian Academy in Japan, Tokyo, Teaching at Hokkaido International School, Sapporo, Secretarial Work - linked with Church Planting in Sapporo/Ichikawa areas, Outreach to Chinese as part of church planting team are all needs at this present time.
And maybe you have some other skills. It could be that God wants to use them in Japan.
Is there really still a need for missionaries in Japan? My home country is very spiritually needy.
Seven cities and numerous towns with a population of 20,000 to 40,000 are without even one church. Less than 0.1% of the Japanese nation of 127 million is Christian. Is that needy enough?
What if God isn’t calling me to go to Japan?
You may still have a strong interest in Japan. Why not think of praying for Japan. You could:
- link up with a missionary. (Write to: omf-jp@omf.or.jp and you will be given the name of someone you can pray for.)
- sign up for the monthly Japan Prayer Fuel. (Write to OMF in your home country and they will put you on their mailing list.)
- financially support a missionary or type of work you are interested in. (Send a gift to OMF in your home country.)
