OMF Missionaries working in northern Tohoku have been working hard to help the relief effort and to determine the needs that can be met by OMF Japan. A core OMF value is Partnership and these missionaries have been seeking to partner with churches in Tohoku and provide aid with and alongside them.
However, for some time now OMF has been considering a strategy to start new work in Tohoku, the least churched areas of Japan. As we seek to partner with churches in Tohoku, we are facing the stark reality that many cities only have one or two churches, with handfuls of Christians attending. Many towns and villages have no Christian presence at all.
While OMF is seeking to partner with churches to help in these areas, the need and urgency for new churches to be planted in these areas has become clearer than ever.
