Short-term to China
Teams for 2009-2010
As well as the teams listed below, there will be relief and reconstruction teams to Sichuan to help the Chinese government. We are particularly looking for engineers, counsellors (knowledge of Mandarin very useful), rehab professionals (PT and OT), primary teachers (with fluent Mandarin). Please contact china@omf.org.uk , if you are interested, even if your profession is not listed here.
Cultural Exchange Team
- July and August (four weeks)
- Working in a rural youth centre giving English lessons and participating in extra-curricular activities
- Team size: (up to eight)
- Requirements: university graduate or undergraduate. The team needs to have a certain number of Mandarin speakers

Teacher Training Teams
- Dates: July and August (4 weeks)
- Purpose: To provide professional expertise in remoter areas of China, especially to help practising English teacher with their pronunciation and listening ability, and to give cultural insight.
- Team size: up to 12
- Requirements: the team must have some qualified teachers

Medical Team
- October 30-November 7 2009
- Providing medical training to peers and counterparts in a county hospital
- Team size: up to 8
- Requirements: medical professionals with considerable experience and training in your field

Fun English Team
- December 2009 (12-14 days)
- To bring fun English activities to a rural school in China.
- Experience with Chinese people preferred. Half the team must speak fluent Mandarin.

Individual Trips
Maths Tutor
- Summer vacation - up to four weeks
- Living in the home of an expatriate family and providing maths tuition to their children. Also to provide play opportunities.
- Requirements: Maths to A level standard or beyond, and capacity to teach it

Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist/Counsellor
- Anytime - up to three months
- Working in an earthquake afflicted town providing support and assistance to the team of long-termers and bringing your professional skills to bear
- Requirements - professional experience and mother-tongue level Mandarin

As well as these centrally organised trips, it may be possible to take a team from your church or Christian Union on a vision trip, and to serve. The dates could simply be the ones that suit you best. For example, we could send a team of four-six people on a prayer-walking trek on the Burmese border.
