Dental Faculty
From 2004-2007, four Cambodian dentists were trained in Postgraduate Diploma in Orthodontics. In 2009, the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health approved the Master in Orthodontic program; four new students have been chosen to join the training programme with the 4 senior students serving as lecturers and clinical supervisors. The senior students are currently working on their research theses to complete their Master’s level. Yew On and Chern Chern Choo mentor the local lecturers.
The aim of this programme is to improve the overall quality of Cambodia’s oral health services and educate orthodontists in response to the need and demands for treatment within the country. It is hoped in time that a service to treat Cambodian children born with cleft lip and palate will also be developed and that the locals will be able to teach their own national programme and become self sufficient. Pray for dedication of local lecturers in teaching and imparting skills, excellent service provided at the orthodontic clinic and a positive Christian witness from a local Christian lecturer, the Choos and visiting Christian lecturers from overseas.
