Kratie (East-Central Cambodia)
Kratie
Kratie Province lies in the heart of Cambodia, bisected by the mighty Mekong River. Like most provinces in Cambodia, the Church virtually disappeared during the turbulent civil war of the 1970's. In the mid-1990's a missionary team came to live in Kratie Province with the goal of planting churches. In time, a group of believers started to worship together in Kratie town, the capital of Kratie Province.
The church in Kratie town continues to experience slow but steady growth despite challenges and some persecution. A high priority is placed on developing Christians as disciples of Jesus Christ. The teaching of the Word – individually and corporately – is seen as essential.
The last two missionaries currently in Kratie town will be withdrawing at the end of this year. This is part of the plan to help the church become truly indigenous and place their trust in God alone. Please pray for the church, that it will stand firm in the face of new changes and challenges. May it be effective in sharing Christ in the town and in the surrounding villages.
