Current Situation

As God grows His church in Cambodia, we are seeing more and more groups being established outside of Phnom Penh. OMF is currently involved with "upcountry" church planting teams in Kratie, Neak Loueng, Prey Veng, Ratanakiri, Siem Reap and Snoul. Our hopes for the future are that these ministries will prosper, and that OMF can also mobilize church planting teams to other upcountry sites in order to reach the more rural areas of Cambodia.

Where do we go next?

A big question is "Where do we go next?" One possibility is that the current churches could expand their ministries into new geographical areas. Another possibility is to form new church planting teams in other strategic parts of the country. Some scouting trips have already been made. In short, the question of where to go next requires an awareness of Cambodia and the other ministries working here, but most importantly a strong leading from God.

We are thankful for the new people God has called to work upcountry who have had a part in the growth of the existing groups. We have also seen a good union between church planting and development work ministries in some of the upcountry locations.

More workers needed!

That we can to take up the urgent challenges soon, we need church planters that:

• have a passion for God and a heart for the Cambodians;
• adaptable men and women that enjoy the freedom of living and working under simple conditions;
• pioneers that break new ground and
• value working in multinational and multi-gifted teams.

More challenges

While we thank God for the growth of the Khmer church, we are aware that many minority groups in Cambodia are "un-reached" by the Gospel. Fortunately in Cambodia we are seeing a growing interest in working with minority groups, not only within other mission organizations but also within our OMF team. How best to bring the message of Jesus to these peoples will also be another focus for the future.

Cambodia is a big country with much work still to be done. We need wisdom and a clear sense of God’s will. May He grow His church in Cambodia.
