Pochentong (West Phnom Penh)
Worship near the Airport: Metreypheap Pochentong Church
Early stages
Metreypheap Pochentong Church was started in 1995 in a suburb West of Phnom Penh city with a population about 80,000. The Missionaries, a couple from Thailand, contacted community through Thai and English teaching.
An indigenous church
Many Khmer brothers and sisters have developed into mature cell Church leaders. A Khmer lady has been the chairman of the church committee since 1996. The Church is basically run by the Khmer, with less and less missionary input.
New ways to go
Since 2006, the church is organized through a pastors’ committee and a working committee. Meanwhile, the church is able to support a part time pastor.
Now there are several cell groups. The aim for those is to multiply and have new cells.
The church also prepares itself for reaching out cross culturally to the Cham people. Several members went on Mission trips to see opportunites for global missions in neighboring Thailand.
