What are Projects?

OMF International Projects are a means of transmitting funding to help meet practical needs in church or society in the receptor country.

They are not intended to provide support for members of the missionary team; rather they represent national needs that we have identified, and are seeking to meet.

Further details may be obtained about any of the projects, on request. Please quote the project name and ID number in any correspondence related to a given project. All amounts quoted are given in $US.

1. Provincial Literacy Programme

$6,000 per year

In Kratie Province , OMF is sponsoring primary school teaching in more than 10 remote and underdeveloped villages. Through this project, in which OMF is working in close partnership with the provincial Education office, each teacher receives basic teacher training, constant supervision and a salary. In addition, the children are provided with study materials such as writing books and pencils.

2. Relief and Development

The trauma and damage resulting from 30 years of civil war continue to affect the country. We seek to bring funding to help in areas such as repair of school buildings, famine relief, flood damage relief, and a wide variety of community needs daily confronting our missionary team.

3. Evangelism and Church Planting
Project I.D. 270004

In our church planting work the middle stage is the renting of premises for worship & training. Presently four newly planted groups rely on OMF to pay the rent for their meeting places, a monthly bill of $450, or $5400 pa. More help is needed also to furnish & equip each place. Children work is also assisted.

4. Student Outreach Fund
Project I.D. 270011
$2,400 per year

OMF student ministry team works together to establish an indigenous student movement in Cambodia. Many activities take place at a 'Student Centre'. This fund is mainly used to support the cost of renting the Student Centre, subsidizing some costs such as making Bible study materials or outreach and discipleship events such as student camp or training camp.

5. Scholarship Fund

$4,600 per year

To meet the need for trained pastors and leaders for the Cambodian church, which has grown from approx 1000 to 200,000 members in the last 15 years, grants are needed to put gifted (but low income) potential leaders through Bible School. In addition, this project also provides grants enabling young people to continue with professional or vocational studies, equipping them for roles as future leaders in church and society.

9. Income Generating Project
Project I.D. 270013
$2,500 per year

OMF's Income Generation Programme (IGP) is a grass-roots initiative that encourages Cambodian believers to develop their own small business ideas. OMFers on the IGP are trainers and facilitators, advising in generic business skills as well as offering support in specialist areas when available. Financing is required to support new initiatives through their early development to the point of self-sustainability.

10. Team Centre Expansion Project
Project I.D. 270204
$40,000 total. Amount outstanding May 2007: $29,000

The OMF Team Centre in Phnom Penh was completed in 2002, however the OMF Cambodia team has increased significantly in numbers since that time. With a growing Team of over 70 adults, the existing Team Centre was unable to accommodate all the main administrative, support and meeting facility requirements of the Team. Therefore, the building was extended over 3 floors at the beginning of 2007. It is envisaged that the extended facility should accommodate the requirements of a Team of up to 100 adults.
