Adapted from Bill Wilson's Prayer Cycle.

Day 1 - Your Missionary's Own Relationship with God

This is a missionary's primary area of need - don't place them on a 'suprt-spiritual' pedestal. Use passages like Col 1:9-12, Eph 3:14-19, Php 1:9-11.

Pray for:

  • Feeding on God's Word
  • Prayer life
  • Filling with the Holy Spirit
  • Maturity and growth in grace
  • Victory over Satan and the flesh

Day 2 - Your Missionary's Physical & Emotional Life

Many missionaries live with extreme climates, frequent travel, isolation and disease. Pray continually and preventatively for:

  • Good health
  • Safety
  • Deliverance from discouragement, loneliness and depression

Day 3 - Your Missionary's Family

Missionary family concerns can be difficult to handle given their work and location. Pray for:

  • Husband/wife relationships
  • Children's salvation and growth in the Lord, as well as their health and education
  • Close relatives at home
  • Family life as an effective witness

Day 4 - Your Missionary's Ability to Communicate

Missionaries have the message of God's love to proclaim through their lives and lips in a language and culture not their own. Pray for:

  • Language study and fluency
  • Cultural adaptation and understanding
  • Lives that show Jesus' love

Day 5 - Your Missionary's Ministry

Support your missionary in their work. Pray using their prayer letters. Pray for:

  • Teaching, preaching and witnessing
  • Boldness and open doors
  • Prepared hearts and fruitfulness

Day 6 - Your Missionary's Fellow Workers

Missionaries work with other missionaries and local believers - Satan often causes havoc with interpersonal relationships. Pray for:

  • Other workers
  • Local pastors and teachers

Day 7 - Your Missionary's Country of Service

Expand your praying to include the whole country where your missionary lives. Pray for:

  • Political situation and the government
  • Visas and a continued open door
  • Outreach to cities, villages and tribes
